What’s your Meaning?
Whether you’re branding a business or braising beef, you’ve got a story to tell with subtlety and nuance to boot. But like value propositioning or pyrolysis in a pan, many of today’s most important stories are also some of the most complicated, reflecting our ever entangled world of science, technology, and society.
Instead of collapsing complex material into meaningless platitudes, I shape visual communications to honor complexity, sculpting story and content into material both beautiful and meaningful.
As a content creator I take a sociological approach to meaning, paying careful attention to audience, story design, media platform, and other factors to ensure your intended meaning comes across

What’s My Process?

Precision Air
Precision Air engineers state of the art operating room airflow technology to minimize airborn infections. Working with their brand strategist, I concepted, designed, directed, shot, edited, and animated a youtube series for them that promotes their brand and expertise.

Pellet Media for Harvard School of Public Health
Pellet Media originally hired me in 2018 to research and help produce PBS NOVA’s Beyond the Elements, a three-part TV series about chemistry. In 2020 and 2021 they hired me again to produce video content, design assets, and motion graphics for a series of live-streamed panel discussions presented by Harvard School of Public Health featuring experts and moderators including Dr. Anthony Fauci and Nicholas Kristof, former Opinion columnist for The New York Times.

Science Communication for NOVA on PBS
As a staff researcher and digital producer for WGBH NOVA, I produced short-form videos for the show’s Facebook page. As a freelance researcher and field producer, I worked with a director-producer team to produce Beyond the Elements, a three-part NOVA series about the molecules and materials that make up the modern world.
iPondr
iPondr is a media company based in Minneapolis that produces stories meant to stand apart from the typical news cycle. In print, image, and audio, they tell stories meant to amplify unheard voices, generate compassion, and reduce polarizing narratives. During the fall of 2020, I produced several journalistic short-form videos for them including research, videography, interviews, and postproduction.
Adónde Media
Adónde Media is the world’s foremost Spanish-language and bilingual podcast production company, with clients including Netflix, Spotify, Vice News, and Sony Pictures Animation.
Ahead of the largest audio marketplace event for media advertisers, they reached out to me looking for help producing a 10-minute video that would introduce to sponsors Adónde Media’s upcoming podcasts. Working in close consultation with Adónde Media’s founder, Martina Castro, I designed, animated, edited, and color graded their pre-recorded presentation to reinforce their status as a preeminent source for original, adventurous, and multicultural storytelling.
To punctuate each chapter of their presentation, I designed and animated custom title plates with simple, organic shapes, a bit of grit and texture, and modern Latin music cues. These elements resonate with Adónde Media’s brand as a purveyor of multicultural, adventurous storytelling.

Makers at Work: A Series of Vignettes
My latest personal project is a set of vignettes—short videos aimed for social media that draw out the ethos of makers, artists, and musicians in Minneapolis.
The first features visual artist Anda Tanaka. See more of her work at AndaTanaka.com.
The second features Paul Sauey, Minneapolis-based musician, performing his arrangement of Sommer, a Danish folk song.
